Hello, my name is Cynthia Price Walls. Both of my parents(Hill, Price) are from Maringouin, La. I remember many of the surnames such as Hawkins, Hill, Crump, Brown, Anderson, Hawkins who were related to me. When I was in my teens, my grandmother told me “don’t go looking at any of these little boys here because everyone in this town is related…[Read more]

Hello, My name is Toi. I am the 3x Great Granddaughter of Martha Butler. She was born in 1835 in Tennessee I believe. I may also be related to the Queen family as well. I have a distant cousin who is and I am just trying to confirm my relation to the Queen branch.
-
Hi Toi, I left a voicemail for you. Feel free to give me a call back when you can. We have quite a few Queen descendants in Maryland who are doing a lot of research into the Queen line as they try to figure out their connection to the Louisiana GU272 cousins. Hopefully some of them will join in this discussion.
-
You are truly awesome! Thanks for the encouragement to continue!
-
Thank you Toi. It was truly a pleasure speaking with you this afternoon. I look forward to seeing what you find in your research.

Thanks for adding me to the group. I am a descendant of the Butler/Hawkins Family but are not sure how. My grandmother was an Edelen from Charles County, MD and was born in 1885. I believe one of her grandparents or even great grandparents might have been a Butler or a Hawkins. I am hoping to solve the mystery of who exactly were her parents.…[Read more]

-
Wow, what part of GA do you live in? I am in Covington, GA. I believe my grandmother had a grandparent or great grandparent that was either a Butler or a Hawkins that married a Butler. I also have matches to the Queen family through the Thomas family. An Edelen married a Thomas. My grandmother was an Edelen born in 1885 in Charles County, MD.
-
Wow, I’m in Dallas out west not far from Six flags! You know the Bulters and Hawkins married each other alot so I’m not sure where to even start. I have cousin that I match with on GEDMatch and she has a connection to the Queen family and I also match her mother so I’m trying to figure if we have the same connections. I know that we will be double…[Read more]

Yes, I have found that I am double even triple related to a lot of people. I match Mudd, Bowling, Boarman, Jenifer, Berry, Thomas, Miles, Harris, Jameson Families…all that are from Charles, Prince George, Calvert and St. Mary’s Counties. I even have some who are 100% European…meaning we share 3rd/4th Great Grandparents.
I definitely know…[Read more]

Angela, it’s going to be really interesting as we all learn how you connect to the Louisiana GU272 family. I’m looking forward to the discussions.
-
Yes, as I am also related to the Queen and Miles families….as well as Mudd. I want to know how I am related to the Butler/Hawkins Families that are apart of the GU272 Project? How do I figure that out if I don’t know what my great grandmother’s maiden name was or even her mother? I only know that my grandmother was an Edelen.
-
Angela, it is now known that Isaac Hawkins wife was a Queen. That could be the link.
-
Yes, that could be…but I am now matching 3 people connected to the Butler Family that are apart of the Georgetown University Project so I need to figure out which Butler and how they are connected to my Edelen Grandmother. I have a lot of matches from Louisiana…that were born in Southern Maryland. I also saw that there was a Harriett Edelen…[Read more]

Hello my daughter’s grandmother lives in Donaldsonville, LA. Who do I talk to regarding the Dondalsonville connection?
-
Hi Toni, You can talk to me or you can reach out to the Georgetown Memory Project. I’ll do whatever I can to answer you questions or refer you to someone who may have more insight.
-
My daughters have ties to Donaldsonville from their grandparents
How do they do DNA testing?-
Toni, Most of the descendants have tested with Ancestry.com . Their tests are on sale now through Valentines day for $59. If you want to have her tested, you may want to use this test that way you have the best opportunity to match up with already verified GU272 descendants if she does indeed match up with them. We don’t conduct any testing. The…[Read more]
