This year marks the 180th anniversary of the unprecedented sale of 272 enslaved children, women and men to Louisiana plantations.
The June date of this reunion event carries an added significance because June 1838 was the month the Articles of Agreement were signed, finalizing the of the sale of the 272 ancestors. June is also an important month in African American History. Juneteenth is a day of celebration and freedom from slavery for those of us in the south who did not know about the original emancipation date because it was purposely kept from us.
Join us at this reunion event to celebrate connecting our families, celebrating the strides we’ve made and forging a path forward toward racial healing and reparative justice.
We hope descendants far and wide will make plans to attend this event. This event is inclusive of ALL Descendants of GU272 Ancestors (Maryland, Louisiana- Ascension, Iberville, & Terrebonne Parishes). You will not want to miss it.
