MEMBERSHIP
Membership dues fund expenses that assist in the solicitation of members, membership retention, and activities of our organization. These activities include, but not limited to, Membership Certification, Genealogy Gatherings, Annual Meeting, Communication, and Membership Management.
Please note: The proceeds of Membership dues will not be used to fund salaries.
A DESCENDANT is anyone originating or coming from an ancestral person whose involuntary labor helped establish, expand, and sustain Jesuit missionary efforts and educational institutions until the abolition of slavery in 1865. DESCENDANT membership includes spouses and adopted children of direct DESCENDANTS of the GU272 and those who were enslaved before, during, and after the sale by the Society of Jesus in 1838. DESCENDANTS of Jesuit enslavement in other U. S. locations include but are not limited to Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Grand Coteau - Louisiana, and Pennsylvania. Membership Types
Certified (formerly Verified) DESCENDANT - Satisfactorily proves Descendant identity of GU272 or the Jesuit Enslaved Ancestral Diaspora by completing the request for certification process. (This membership type qualifies for full GU272 Descendant Association and is eligible to receive any Descendants Truth and Reconciliation Foundation benefits)
Declared DESCENDANT - Self-identifies as a Descendant of a GU272 or the Jesuit Enslaved Ancestral Diaspora (This membership type only qualifies for partial Descendant Association benefits and is not eligible to received any Descendants Truth and Reconciliation Foundation benefits)
Non-DESCENDANT (Individual or Entity) - Any person or entity of goodwill who is committed to engaging in Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation regarding the legacy of slavery in America and chooses to honor the legacy of our ancestors. (This membership type only qualifies for partial Association Descendant benefits and is not eligible to received any Descendants Truth and Reconciliation Foundation benefits)

Membership Dues Structure
- Certified (formerly Verified) INDIVIDUAL Annual Dues - $15 per person/year, initiation fee $20
- Certified (formerly Verified) INDIVIDUAL Lifetime Dues - one-time payment of $272 per person
- Certified (formerly Verified) FAMILY Annual Dues - $30 per family, initiation fee $45
- Declared INDIVIDUAL Annual Dues - $15 per person
- Declared FAMILY Annual Dues - $30 per family
- Non-Descendant INDIVIDUAL Annual Dues - $100 Per Person
- Non-Descendant INDIVIDUAL Lifetime Dues - one-time payment of $1000 per person
- Non-Descendant ENTITY Annual Dues - $500 per Entity
- Non-Descendant ENTITY Lifetime Dues – One-time payment of $5000 per Entity
NOTE: Your membership dues will not be billed until your membership application is approved.
Application Process
DESCENDANT application process
ALL Descendant Applicants:
- The DESCENDANT (or their designated representative) must complete the online membership application. Or, the DESCENDANT'S surviving spouse will be required to provide a copy of the DESCENDANT'S death and marriage certificate before approval for membership.
- Applicant must sign the GU272 DESCENDANTS Declaration and
- Every individual (regardless of age) applying for membership must complete, get notarized, scan and email to membership@gu272.net or mail the Identity Verification form to the GU272 Descendants Association.
DECLARED Descendant Applicants (believes they descend from one or more selected Ancestral surnames but is unsure or cannot prove it)
** In addition to the requirements above for ALL applicants, DECLARED applicants must complete the following:
- Applicant must submit:
- the original Notarized Identity Verification
- (IDV) form(s) for every member listed on the application.
- Upon receipt of the required forms, the Membership committee reviews submitted documentation for completeness and approval within 30 days.
- Upon approval, the applicant will receive a link to set up a membership profile as a DECLARED Descendant and submit the dues payment.
CERTIFIED (formerly VERIFIED) Descendant Applicants (selects one or more listed Ancestral surnames and can prove it)
** In addition to the requirements above for ALL applicants, VERIFIED applicants must complete the following:
- Applicant must submit:
- the original Notarized Identity Verification (IDV) form(s) for every member listed on the application
- documentation that proves descendance to establish direct descendant status.
- Upon receipt of the required forms, the Membership committee reviews submitted documentation for completeness and approval within 60 days.
- Upon approval, the applicant will receive a link to set up a membership profile as a VERIFIED Descendant and submit the dues payment.

Non-DESCENDANT application process
Any individual person or entity of goodwill may apply for a GU272 Descendants Association membership.
NOTE: The GU272 Descendants Association reserves the right to deny membership to any individual or organization whose Mission or Beliefs does not align with Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT).
- The Non-DESCENDANT (or their designated representative) must complete the online membership application.
- The applicant will have immediate access to Non-DESCENDANT Membership dues options and can complete dues payment process.
